My HARVEST !!!!

Oh I am so sick here! But wanted to share with you my harvest !!!!
Had to laugh so wanted to share the laughter...........

4 years ago when we fist moved out here to the country, I found 4 asparagus plants at the local flower shop and being the avid "got to be in the dirt" person I had to plant them. I was told by several people that they are hard to grow so not having any faith in my gardening ability I put them on the south east corner of my house.....thinking that they would not live so no need to worry about them being so close to the house...
I have babied them and studied about them and fed them and talked to them and even prayed about them........ They are beautiful in the summer with their feathery appearance (they would look too good in a hanging basket) But alas never bearing any delectable fruit of the vine........I gave up hope and thought maybe I would put them in a different place, maybe in a hanging pot!

Me and my DH just love asparagus........ Smothered with cheese........ YUM!!!!!!!!! So in order to dine on the tasty veggie, I have to go to Wal-Mart and pay a high price for our addiction............

BUT I was wondering around the yard the other day and walked around to the south east corner and brushed away the leaves that the Maple tree had spread across the yard and what do you think I found!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Asparagus !!!!!!!!!!!
hahhahahhahahah

I am going to cook it today for my DH....... I will sacrifice myself the delectable morsel !

I am headed back to my easy chair with my Vicks and my Vaporizer and dream about an increase in my harvest! .........

I hope you had a little laugh ........

Denise,

Give it time, my friend. It will grow. Seeds planted sometimes do not sprout right away. Just leave it alone and it will give you a feast in the spring of coming years.

Aspargus used to grow wild in the ditch beside the little woods that was on our property when I was a kid. Each spring, we would harvest it and enjoy it. Then they began spraying the ditches and that was the end of that.

Thanks for the memories. I enjoyed your post and did have a laugh. I'm sure Dennis will enjoy it.

Feel better soon, my friend.
Blessings,
Mary

Years ago when I was little we always lived in the country. Back then they did not spray the road sides so asparagus grew wild. My brother and I would go and pick it..but of course as kids we did not like it..Crazy kids!! I love it now!!
We also picked wild strawberries and wild roses...Cannot find that sort of thing any longer.
Well I love your harvest!! See you were patient..smile..Sandy

My husband has an asparagus bed. In fact, he cleaned it out the other day. Oh, I look forward to it. we both love it grilled.
How neat that you grew some too!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I wish I lived a little closer and I'd bring you some of my chicken and noodles.

God bless you and heal you quickly.

Love,
Valerie
