My Sweet Mom

Just wanted to stop in before I head to bed and ask that you ladies pray for my sweet Mom...... The nurse that stops in three times a week took me aside Thursday and suggested that I have Mom tested for Alzheimer's.
It did not come as a shock to me as my brother and I have noticed that she is becoming increasingly worse in her memory and all around understanding. The nurse seems to think that she is past the mild stage and moving into the moderate. It breaks my heart as Mom is in pretty good shape physically. I so hoped that she would have many more years out here with us.
I have been spending more time with her and she is getting in the pool with me 45 minutes or so each day. She is loving it. I have to keep a very very close eye on her at all times but she sits on the step and just kicks her feet.
I guess I will make an appointment with her Dr next week and have her take a simple test. I hear that they have some pretty good medicine that will slow the progression down a bit? I know nothing of this demon disease so I guess that I need to study some.
I do not know what I would do without my older brother Paul and his wife Alpha. It is times as these that I so need someone else to bear this weight. They are wonderful to help and be right there for me and Dennis.
Pray for my little Mom, she will be 89 in December. I so want her to enjoy more years out here with us....... I know that God can do this.......... I will pray and I appreciate you calling out her name to the Father when she crosses your mind. Her name is Helen............. I will have a picture of her in the pool for you tomorrow............ Good night and may the Father God watch over each of you this holiday weekend.

Hugs

Dearest Denise,

I am so sorry that your mother is going through this. Alzheimers is not a pleasant thing for the patient or their family. I will be praying for your beautiful mother.

Aunt May is declining a bit and both Mom and I have noticed that her memory is not like it once was. She does have two spots of cancer in her brain, so that is to be expected. I haven't talked to her this week, but will try to get in touch with her tomorrow. It's been a hectic week for me.

Glad you got over to my Writing Nook to enter your name in my Harvest Giveaway. I also have your Pay it Forward gift and will get it out to you soon.

Take care, my friend. Prayers are speeding toward heaven for your Mom and your family.

Blessings and love,
Mary

My sweet friend Denise, I pray that God will show you in a special way just how special you and your precious mother are to Him.

Please try to be extra good to yourself as you care for your mom, and may you and she enjoy many happy times together for a long time!

I am sorry to hear about Helen. My FIL had a form of Alzheimers called Picks. The one consolation we had as a family was that he wasn't aware of what was going on with him. This was merciful, I believe. I know that Dee is going through this with her mom and perhaps you and she can get together. You could help each other.

Denise,
I will keep your mom, Helen in my prayers as well as you and your brother. I'm praying that God will give you all wisdom and a peace in this situation.
How special that you two have the opportunity to swim together each day. I know you will cherish these wonderful memories with her.
I'm a tad envious about your pool. ;) My mom used to have a large above ground at her house which is just two doors down from us. It got to be too much work and expense and they had it removed. I could have used a nice cool dip in a pool yesterday.
Have a nice holiday weekend.
Love, prayers & blessings,
Valerie

I am so sorry to hear about this. We traveled this road with my Grandmother and Grandfather.
I will pray for ya'll....you are right there are some great meds out there.
How precious of God to give her the 89 years He has. I know Paw Paw did not start having small problems with this until he hit 90. The doctors said instead of Alzheimers it was dementia. A little different in that it is like a light bulb being turned on and off.
I will pray for the doctors and their wisdom as they test your Mom. So glad you have your brother close by....it so helps to have help during this time.
I will be praying.

Just catching up, I am sorry to hear about Helen. I used to work with seniors who have Alzheimer's Disease.
I loved it, It's better to go into her world and not to force (correct) her all the time. Get all the info from the Alzheimer's Association, they will send you a packet. They also have meetings for families. Praying for you all:)One day at a time. . .

Grandma Lou is on a new medication that slows down the progression of Alzheimers. I will ask her the name of it when I see her again.

My friend, Nicky, who worked with Alzheimers patients says one of the best things that can be done for them is to spark the creative side of the brain including having them play word games, write and read poetry, and be creative in general. I will ask her for more tips and advice.

MY dear sister in Christ Denise...Lifting up your beloved mother to our Lord Jesus for His tender care and mercy...He CAN heal the affliction of Alzheimers that is taking so many beautiful elders from us. I also pray our medical community will find the reasons and CURES through our Lord's intervention to save these good people. I have so many elder friends that are leaving this way...my own mother is starting to show some signs of decline, as well as two very dear elder friends of mine that are in the later stages. It is heartbreaking indeed sweetheart...JUst know Denise, your mom is being prayed for and a candle is lit just for her. I BELIEVE in the power of Christ's healing hands!!! YOU take care of you too hon... and get help from others so you can rest...the caregivers need support also. We are all here for you. Love, Jenny

Perhaps there is a support group for Alzheimer's families and caregivers at your local hospital? That may be of some good help and information to you dear...{{{hugs}}}}

Dear Denise,
I said a prayer for sweet Helen and your family as you go through this time.

My grandmother also had dementia and Alzheimer's. She lived to be 92 and was such a fighter to the very end.

I wanted to tell you that I received the 'Friends through Blogging, Sisters through Christ' T-shirt today from Tracy as a birthday present. What a blessing and sweet gift it is!! I love it, and I love the hands, as many colors of hands reach out in love to each other in blogland and in the world.

Thank you for blessing us with your design, and expressing just what we feel through your T-shirt ministry. I feel very blessed to know you in blogland.

May you have peace and have happiness, even in the storm.
Love,
Tart
