Bible Study

I am starting a Bible Study today with a few ladies............ You can go over to Sisters of Faith the next 90 days and read the comments. The name of the study is 90 Days with The One and Only, using the book by Beth Moore. I will be posting some comments and some small devotions as I go..........

Just wanted to stop in and update you on Mom...... We have not had her tested but I have been researching this demon disease and I find that sublingual Vitamin B 12 is doing good things for people with dementia and Alzheimer's. So I have started Mom on B12 and I am researching Brewers Yeast. Brewers Yeast is the best source of vitamin B 12.

My little grandmother (Mom's Mom) lived to be 99 and in very good health. She had a little side board in her kitchen and in the top drawer was many little bottles of vitamins and such. One of those bottles was brewers yeast. I remember her saying time and time again, "take your Brewers Yeast".............. I am thinking that she was a pretty smart little gal.

Ladies, remember to take your brewers yeast.

Be blessed

Wish I had my stuff from storage...I have this book.
It caught my attention and I bought it not long before I started packing up.Enjoy your study....looking for something myself.
I have heard the same about B 12....did not know about brewers yeast...I'll have to ask my Dad about that. Since both my Mothers parents had Alzheimers he has done a lot of research. Thanks for the info.

Denise,

Odd! Mom and I were talking about this earlier tonight. I found this tidbit online.

Vitamins: biotin (300 mcg); B1 (50 - 100 mg), B2 (50 mg), B6 (50 - 100 mg), B12 (100 - 1,000 mcg), folic acid (400 - 1,000 mcg). No evidence shows a direct impact, but B12 and folic acid lower the levels of an amino acid in the blood that is typically elevated in Alzheimer's patients. Injections of B12 may have the best results.
Zinc (30 - 50 mg per day) is often deficient in elderly people, and may help improve memory.

The other thing I know is that lemon balm is supposed to help those with Alzheimers. It can't hurt to try.

Keeping you and your parents in my prayers.

Blessings,
Mary

I like Brewer's Yeast on my popcorn. I use air popped or smart pop and then sprinkle some ICBNB Spray on top of it so that when I sprinkle the Yeast on top of that it sticks to the popcorn. There's something else you didn't about me now, huh? :)

It sounds like your plate is full with many things, not the least of which is coming to terms with the frailty of the human body. May God grant you the wisdom and clarity and compassion that you will need in dealing with your mother and her changing needs. Parents are a gift to us; I treasure mine and the times I have with them.

Thinking of you today...

Denise!

I was just up in Oklahoma this past weekend.

The Choctaw Nation had a festival with some great music performed by Third Day and The Crabb Family on Sunday night.

We went to go be with one of our friends that works with Third Day.

It was a great weekend...I will blog about it this week!

Praying for peace and wisdom to guide you as you take care of your mom. What a special daughter you are...she is blessed to have your care & love!

Hugs!

Is Brewer's Yeast the same as wheat germ? I read the vit B-12 is called the nerve (brain function) health vitamin. Trouble with that vitiman and the yeast is is gives me terrible flatulance. Otherwise I would take it. I'll do more research on this...as I sure want to keep my brain healthy, going into my elder years. I can tell a difference at age 52 things are slowing a bit ( memory-recall) I need to do more nuero-robics like puzzles, word searches-brain-teasers. Do you think the net is good for aging brains? Thanks for the heads up on the brewer yeast honey! ( no pun intended lol)

Sorry to hear this about your Mom. Honey Bear's Mother had this awful disease. Yes, you do need to read up on it. I went to a seminar on it when my Mother in law was diagnosed. I had a very good book once but don't even remember the name of it now. There are so many symptoms that can be laid at its door. Paranoia, for one.
My Mother died when she was 77. She had Parkinson's. That was all that was wrong with her. She died of complications related to swallowing but she was in a fetal position pretty much at the end, couldn't do much except raise her arms. She was still alert mentally. I'm not sure that was a blessing for her considering the shape she was in but for us it was good because we could talk to her until the end.
It is very hard to lose ones Mother. I pray that this disease progresses slowly with your Mom and that she is with you for many more years.
Love ya,
Mama Bear

I'm glad you are finally getting a "taste" of Beth Moore! She is awsome. My quite time and study time had taken such a back set to college studies...then I couldn't get my umph up and then she caught my attention on tv and drew me back into my Bible. I owe her one on that ;) I could never have done it on my own. Our new study starts on the 11th.
Hope this finds you doing well. Praying for you today. Much love...

i hon, Thinking of you AND your precious momma today. Asking our Lord Jesus to bless you both...May He give your mother comfort and ease the burdens of this disease...and lift you up dear Denise with strength and faith to help/fight for your mother's health and wellbeing. Your mother is blessed to have a daughter that cares for her...and will do the right things.... and loves with her heart her mother. I've started the Bible Study too with the Sisters of faith...what a blessing these women are! The Lord works in such strange and beautiful ways doesn't her? These days are most challenging for me and my faith...God is watching his flock, gathering us in, indeed. Love, Jen
