Show and Tell and Fell

...Here is what we woke up to this morning!!!!!!!!! We had a wind storm come through last night and me and DH slept right through it!!!! There are two big maple trees on each side of our drive........ We knew that they needed to come down last summer but no time............ We had planned to take them out this spring.............. The wind gave us a hand last night and took out half of one..................... It just missed the HHR but hit the side of my Explorer............ It is an old Explorer 1999......... but it is my favorite vehicle to drive........... I think it may just have surface damage ............. We are thankful it did not hit the HHR.......... It is brand new............. You can just see the top of the Toyota in the background......... There is two beautiful Crepe Myrtle's under there somewhere......... !!!!!!!!! My sweet son Chris is headed over with a chain saw......... he is a sweetie............. Then I guess the rest of the tree will come down along with the other one on the south side of the drive....... I will miss them.......... but I am going to replace them this fall with something new............ Any suggestions.......... something that grows fast!

The only thing that makes me so sad is that both of these old trees is home to many redheaded woodpeckers and their babies.......... I hope they survived the fall........... Not sure what to do about that........... I cannot move them............. I love my birds and hate to see their home on the ground!

Happy Friday gals!!!!!!!!!!

Denise,

I am so sorry that these beautiful old trees have to go. Trees branches remind me of the arms of God. They protect birds and other creatures from storms and predators. Let me know what happens to the woodpeckers.

I hope that your Explorer is not damaged too badly.

Check out this link to learn more about trees that grow quickly.

Lots of information on that site and it largely depends on what type of tree you would like. For instance a flowering tree or a shade tree.

Take care, my friend. Be sure to save a stump of one of those trees and plant a clematis or other vine around it. Stumps look gorgeous with flowering vines.

Blessings for a great weekend.

Ouch......I know about downed trees. I am glad they didn't hit the house and do more damage.
Even so....I know how dealing with insurance can be a real mess.
I am glad they were trees that you were planning on taking down.
One of the great memories I have after the storm was all the guys out with their chainsaws helping clean up yards and streets so that people could get in and out.It was great to see people who never really talked to each other..out caring about each other in word and deed.

Okay, so the first one wouldn't post for some reason. I just wanted to say that I'm thinking there's a few analogies in there, yes? Glad you're alright.

Oh how sad! I would never let hubby cut down any trees during the spring and early summer while birds were nesting. :) We love our birdies too!

So sorry sweetie.

Oh, it make me so sad to loose beautiful old trees, but I'm thankful no one was hurt and no serious damage to your cars. I hope the birdies are well and can find another tree close by so you will still be able to enjoy them.
Maybe check with your nursery for fast growing trees. Take care. hugs, Linda

I know it looks bad but I'm glad it didn't do more damage. I'm listening to the weather now...it's pretty calm here just rumbles of thunder around and no rain still but about an hour away they have reported a tornado on the ground praise the Lord heading the other direction. We have a couple more "red" cells coming this way so we shall see....
Arkansas and Mo are getting hit bad today. I'm sooooo grateful that my sister and BIL drove in yesterday instead of today they would have been right in the middle of it....God is good! I pray for those families in Arkansas there is 7 deaths today.
Love~ hope you have a good-God weekend
as well....

I hope the damage to the car is definitely minimum. And I'm truly thankful that you and your family are safe.

If the tree trunk survived, the woodpeckers will still have a home. They love a snag (standing dead tree). I appreciate your tender heart in caring for God's little creations.

bouncing in thought for spiritual application...

Isaiah 61:3
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

No storm in life can uproot up or overturn us if we are firmly planted in Christ.

OH Denise!!! I'm so glad that you and your DH are OK! I really relate to this post! I'm so glad that our old eucalyptus trees are down. I've been afraid that this would happen. You'll plant something new and in a few years it'll be so pretty~

Denise, oh I'm so sorry about the storm but isn't it wonderful that God helpped you out like that?! We have a Mountaineer and it's my favorite truck so I know how you feel about it. (shhh truly, I would love one of the new Jeeps but I'm not talking about it b/c it might give my car crazy husband ideas). Thank you for the reminders you posted on my blog. I had to fall apart in order for God to piece it all together for me. Today I'm resting and letting Him calm me. Have a beautiful day. Blessings... Polly
