God and Me and Potpourri

...I have this wire basket of such that I bought at an auction years ago and

I love to fill it with potpourri during the year...

A couple of days before Christmas I filled it full with my Christmas potpourri. It was great....... The fragrance filled the house and as each of my family

came through the door their first comment was about the beautiful aroma

that filled the room. As I passed by it yesterday I noticed that I no longer could smell the sweet aroma.

I did not hesitate a minute and I reached down and stirred it up a bit...

tumbled it in my hands and tossed it over and around and rolled it over and over until the bottom potpourri was on top and the inside was outside..........

and what do you know..... there was that beautiful fragrance once again.

I headed to the sink to wash my hands when low and behold the

Lord used that potpourri for a sweet savory lesson.

When I was first born again and for a few years after I was full of the flavor of God.....

If there was not someone to share the gospel with I would talk to a rock.

When I entered a room with people it was not very long but the knew

who I was and who I served........ I prayed like a warrior, I read my bible like a starving woman with only His words to satisfy...

I danced and sang and worshiped my Father God and He used me in such a mighty way to see others healed or comforted or born into the kingdom.............

but............

as with my potpourri I sat a little too long somewhere along the way and my sweet smelling savor faded.......... I took a bit longer to pray about something instead of worrying, I read lots of good christian books but failed to read the word of God as

I should and it was no longer a priority first thing in the morning.

I was still out and about but maybe filled with the cares of the world and the "things that I placed in order of importance" not ever even giving a thought to the fact that my fragrance had faded...........

I have been feeling lately that my fire is becoming lukewarm and I do not even

remember when it began to grow lukewarm.........

How easy it is to allow life to drain the very life out of us and not even realize it until we wake up one morning and our relation ship with Him is lacking................

sooooo the scripture that He spoke to my heart yesterday morning was.........

2 Timothy 1:6

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. ...

Stir it up ladies... The fragrance is still there........ We need to stir up our lives so that the fragrance that was ours when we first believe will fill the house with the sweet smelling presence of our Lord...........

Have a very sweet smelling day!!!!!!!!!!

Okay not really but I could have easily done a double take on who wrote this blog of yours today for the very words are a description of my own life. I would add to mine, not yours, that I have grown somewhat apathetic and complacent. However, my heart is right in the place God wants it to be. A lump of clay, smushed down and in the process of being built up again. Who could ask for a better place to be than in the Master's Capable Hands. Thanks so much for the award too.

Denise as I read your post I thought "oh God how many times do I lose my fragrance?"

We do need to stir it up from time to time. Sometimes though I think we are in such a state that we can not stir it up ourselves so the hand of God stirs it up. He runs His holy hands through our lives, mixing and tossing until everything is turned upside down...and then the fragrance comes....

Denise thank you!

Yes!
All the good things are there. We just need to let Him prod, provoke and prove us.
I love reading these types of post because they remind me what was and what needs to be.
He has been doing some flipping, and rotating in my life lately.
Hopefully there is a sweet smell becoming noticeable to Him.

Denise, if I get to the point where I don't correspond with you as often as I would like, it's only because MIL is coming tomorrow for 3 weeks and I am not sure how much free time I will have. I'll do my best though. Hope you have a great day and I'll check back in again later today.
