Glow In The Dark........... Eggs That Is

Radioactive Isotopes

Radioactive isotopes are radioactive atoms of ordinary elements such as carbon, cobalt, sodium, or phosphorus. Some radioisotopes are found in the atomic ash that remains after uranium atoms are split in a nuclear pile. Others are created by exposing normal elements to intense radiation inside a nuclear reactor while fission is taking place.

Radioactive isotopes emit radiation in the form of beta and gamma rays. The intensity of the radiation is proportional to the rate at which the radioactive material decays. Thus the different radioisotopes can be used for special purposes and processes.

Tools of research and industry. Tracers, as radioactive isotopes are sometimes called, have been described as the most useful research tool since the invention of the microscope in the 17th century. Physiologists using tracers, for instance, are learning where and at what speed physical and chemical processes occur in the human body.

Yesterday was so very interesting.......... and there was not cocktail ladies! I had the most expensive breakfast that I will most likely every have.
Before me was place a small bowl of hospital scrambled eggs, one very very dry piece of toast and 1/2 glass of room temperature water............. YUM.......... did I mention that the toast was dry, really dry........ not sure how they got it that dry.. but it was dry........ let me continue.............. all this was placed on some sort of cotton pad that covered the table and a pair of hospital rubber gloves was given to me and I was told to eat..
My instructions were " Eat all of the eggs if you can, for that is where the little RAI's live and part of the toast is fine.. wash this all down with the water and be careful not to drop anything on your clothes, otherwise you will need to take your clothes off........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not want THAT! so with my blue rubber gloves on and "being careful was the name of the game'' I ate.

"You really cannot taste any difference in the eggs" I was told........... Yeah Right! You cannot put those RAI bad boys into a pan with scrambles eggs and fool anyone............ You just cannot!

Now understand, it is 11:00 in the morning, I have had nothing to eat or drink and when that stuff hit my stomach it was "Katie bar the door" OMG!!!!!!!! Anyway, let me continue... I ate slowly savoring each bite and washing it down with that wonderful warm water as to a feeble attempt at clearing my palate of the eggs.......... no such luck, I think I can still taste it this morning!

It was then up and over to the bed, lying down at a 45 degree angle pillow under my knees two warm blankets over my isotope body and now we are ready............ Over my middle comes the scanner and to my right was a large monitor........ The monitor was turned just so that I could see part of the screen and because of my "got to know" personality I ask the sweet young man doing the test to turn it so I could see the full screen, he complied. All things now in place he switched on the machines and OMG!

There before me was a black screen with this wad of bright shinning substance about the size of your fist staring back at me...........The eggs that I has just swallowed was lying peacefully in the upper part of my stomach.......... What a deal! I found this to be very fascinating and I had two hours to lay there and watch.......... The clock on the wall was hanging right above the monitor so guess what, time went a little too slow for me so I turned my head for a while and went off into na na land and slept almost 45 minutes.

It was almost 12:00 noon when I woke up and I can tell you that the glowing wad of eggs on the screen at 11:00 had changed... I innards was lit up like the Aurora Borealis ............ the gastric juices in my stomach had mixed the RAI....... and that monitor was lit up! Part of the eggs were still high in my stomach but part of them had moved lower and the gastric juices had carried the RAI's into my upper intestines! It was twisting and turning and working and moving and I was plumb fascinated!

At 12:45 there were two very bright spots in the upper part of my stomach that really needed to move down in the next 15 minutes as to give me good results........ I watched every one of the last 15 minutes! They moved.

The results of my test is 90% emptied in 2 hours and that is in the perfect range for the gastric emptying study. Ladies, my digestion is normal not too slow not too fast just right.................

Ok, that is good news and bad news............ I do not have an issue with food in my stomach too long and that is good, but what in the world is causing my distress......... I had not swallowed that RAI egg combination 30 minutes as my stomach was puffed up and I was miserable..........

So, in conclusion.......... This morning starts a food diary. I have tried this before, but now it is a serious matter. I will log everything that goes in my mouth and then rate it as to how it effects my stomach........ I will pray more feverishly and ask the Father to help me figure this out.

I feel like the woman with the issue of blood that had spent all her money on Doctors and still not healed. It took just one touch of HIS robe............ I am seeking the bottom of HIS robe......
but!!!!!!!!! I am thankful this morning that all is well with my stomach, I am thankful for the day that we live in for such tests to be available to us......... and I am thankful that although the dear Dr's cannot figure it out that my Father knows exactly what is going on AND I am thankful for this wonderful cup of coffee sitting in front of me!

Don't you just feel like you have been released from prison when you get something like that over with? I'm looking at gamma knife for trigeminal neuralgia in my face (There, I said it for the first time in my blogging).

This process, as you described it, is fascinating to me and it truly is amazing what can be done today. Good luck finding the culprit of what ails you...a food journal is a good idea...did you enter that wonderful cup of coffee? Maybe you should make note of brands as well in case you need to re-examine ingredients at a later date.

Have a day of peace ~

The impact on the health professionals, those tiny interactions those kind word spoken at also a big parat of this. Remember as strange as this sounds (even coming from me) that it is not about us. It is about God being glorified in all things. Especially our trials.
I am glad for that cup of coffee too. savor the taste.
just joni has a real good point, ingredents differ py product. types of oils, sweetners and such.

It all sounded very interesting. ANd I am glad you got to watch. :)
Hopefully your diary will give them an idea of what is going on.
But if I see HIM passing by I will send Him your way so you can touch the bottom of His robe.

Very fascinating! For me it was gluten and it only took 3 days for a noticeable difference -- I felt like a new "me", w/o pain! Yah! That's almost 4 years now! D

Hi Denise, I've been gone most of the day....just now getting a chance to check your post. I'm glad that part is over for you. You've been given good advice from your blogger friends, and you are right....God knows what the problem is and all we can do is pray and wait for an answer. Your post was so nicely detailed that I could almost see it myself. I wish you luck with your food journal.

Bud and I are leaving as soon as I click on 'publish comment'. Just wanted you to know that I saw you request for the interview questions.

I'll get them done when I return tonight and probably get them to you then, or first thing tomorrow.

Have a great Saturday.

what an interesting test...to watch as your food goes through your stomach...
Now I pray for you as you have to think food food all day long until you become obsessed with it...
There must be a certain food combination that doesn't like your digestion process.

I know it will be a real pain to do this...but think of it as a science project!!!

Love ya,
Mimi

Denise,

I'm glad the test went well and that the results were good.

Hubby went through this a couple of years ago and then our family doctor sent him to McMaster University to a specialist. He was in excrutiating pain and his stomach was hot and swollen on the outside. The doctor took one look and said he wasn't getting enough fiber. Women should have 32 grams daily or problems can occur. I'm grasping at straws here and certainly don't profess to be a doctor but sometimes the most simple things can be overlooked. Hubby was over a year getting this simple diagnosis.

Praying the Father will point you to what is wrong.

Blessings,
Mary

You got more than luck...you got Him. Gain knowledge a good blog is "down to earth" Rhonda shares her knowledge on the subject.

I guess it could be all kinds of things but either way, you're a brave woman for going through that, that's for sure. I don't know that I would. Maybe as a last resort, perhaps.

Thanks for making it so interesting and telling us what took place in case we have to have it done.
Coffee: Whenever I have to go without food from midnight on and go get a test, coffee is the hardest part(not having any). I usually take my commuter cut and have it filled right after the test. They used to have a starbucks in the building where my internist has her office but that changed. Of course, I've moved and have to find a new Doctor by March or go back to Memphis to the one there.
Praise that there isn't anything wrong with your stomach. Could you be allergic to eggs?

I just found out about all this. I haven't been to your blog much and do appreciate your visit this week to mine. I'll have to keep checking more to see what's going on with you. Whatever it is, I pray the Lord will give you rest and healing, and show the medical people just what needs to be done. Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow!

I love how you described everything, the egg, drrrrry toast and warm water made me giggle, how dare them give you that for breakfast, the nerve, lol, a classy lady like you should have gotten egg Benedict!! Good idea to write everything down, and like Joni said, ingredients...they have a huge roll on so much more then we even imagine. God will give you an answer on whats causing this, he'll pop something out to you and then you're going to go "O my gosh!!! I would have never suspected this or that!"
Hugs
Annette
p.s.
whats the weather like there?

I am so glad that part of it is over for you. i am praying!!!! You know what prayer can do for us!!!! I will have mySunday school friends pray for you and the doctors to find the answers...m...

O.K. then. Only you could make me laugh at your description of that procedure. I don't think I will ever eat eggs again without thinking of you.

Well, now you know there is no blockage so now to figure out what is going on. Like others have said write down everything. While your writing and praying, I'm going to join with you in praying. Ask the Father what you can learn from all this that will make you a better servant. You will be healed.
